Anti-Vegetarianism

It maybe says something about how much mainstream human beliefs on ethics are based on convenience that the state of current human society is one in which believing in shortchanging other members of its species on any of a huge list of rights is considered morally reprehensible but believing in just the right to life (or even just the right to dignity before death) of members of other species is frequently considered morally pretentious.
